Was that so hard?

IKE

Eisenhower was a great strategist, but a six-year old would prolly figure this one out,
which means somebody's not really trying.

How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico

George W. Bush isn't the first Republican president to face a full-blown immigration crisis on the US-Mexican border.

Fifty-three years ago, when newly elected Dwight Eisenhower moved into the White House, America's southern frontier was as porous as a spaghetti sieve. As many as 3 million illegal migrants had walked and waded northward over a period of several years for jobs in California, Arizona, Texas, and points beyond.

President Eisenhower cut off this illegal traffic. He did it quickly and decisively with only 1,075 United States Border Patrol agents - less than one-tenth of today's force. The operation is still highly praised among veterans of the Border Patrol. [Christian Science Monitor]

"we had sons there" I sincerely doubt it. Ivy leaguers don't join the military any more. At least not voluntarily. IIRC Princeton had exactly one graduate go into the military from this year's class. Nope. Not buying it.

I am confused what are you not buying in regard to the story about Ike and his dealing with illegals. It is fact I have knbown about it for many years. So have many people. It is a matter of record.

(Looks like RKV listed his comment under the wrong story.)

As for the Border: the only resourse this nation lacks is the WILL to change the situation for the bennifit of the US.

Corrupt Democrates in the US Senate in the 1950's! Say it ain't so!

The more I read about Ike, the more respect I have for him. Had a college prof tell me he was proof the country could function without a president. Hmmpfh.
