ABRAHAM WTF?

Spencer Abraham

Something Fishy?
I haven't been near to jumping out of the balloon over Fred Thompson's  association with Spencer Abraham, but I did wonder WTF he was thinking?  I mean, Christie Todd Whitman would have been a better choice, and she's awful.  Choice for what though?

Fred Thompson Shakes Up Campaign Staff
Los Angeles Times, CA - Jul 24, 2007
... Thompson is replacing his acting campaign manager with former senator and energy secretary Spencer Abraham and Florida GOP strategist Randy Enright. ...

The news reports from last week clearly stated that Abraham was named campaign manager, or co-manager with Randy Enwright.  The Fred Thompson Blogs are saying something else today.

One Thompson adviser dismissed the notion that somehow Abraham will slow down the nascent campaign.

"Spence is not going to be the campaign manager," the adviser said. "He won't be running anything."

That job will be in the hands of Randy Enwright, a veteran Florida Republican who is widely respected and also once ran the GOP in Iowa.

Hopefully this will calm some people down. Fred has been very strong in his support for securing our borders, so it doesn't make sense that he'd let Abraham walk in and change those views. [Blogs for FT]

Clearly somebody in his campaign realizes what an awful choice Spence was, for any but a minor role in the campaign. His I'm With Fred website offers nothing on the matter, so I guess this might be more "refining the message."  While I'm a supporter, I wish he'd quit refining and get to defining issues.  Ronald Reagan did not refine.  He had core values and went with them.  It's the only way to win.

It's too bad Duncan Hunter doesn't have a chance.

If he showed any signs of life other than Ann Coulter's support, I'd be all over him. He's the best guy running, IMO.

I believe that thompson has core values every bit as strong as Ronald Reagans and that is saying a lot because reagan is a personal hero of mine. Some people can report anything and others might say something to try and throw a curve ball to a campaign or slow it down to aid someone else. That is speculation. I believe this is much to do about nothing. I think Thompson was being polite to someone thaqt held a cabinet position in the Bush administration and that Abraham will not have any role other than maybe cheerleader if that. If Thompson is knocked out over some silly thing like this then we are screwed and hold your drawers because you will have your filthyness in the oval office with Willie for fun and games and Janet Reno or one of her accolites as a supreame court judge and worse.

The comparison to Ronald Reagan is valid. Like Reagan, Fred Thompson is a dishonest twit who has no real values of his own, and adopts whatever views that pander to the religiously insane.
Also, like Reagan, Thompson is a notoriously bad (and washed up)actor who would like to play the ultimate role.
Thompson has Ronnie's phony sincerity down pat, but not enough time has gone by for the religious wack-jobs to forgive his lobbying for "liberal" (sane) causes.
But, remember, whoever the Repugs nominate is going down, thanks to your Boy George, the worst Resident who ever dishonored the white house.

Ah, the fine, intellegent arguments on full display by the left.

Anyways, glad you addressed Abraham Rog. I didn't jump out of the balloon either but it sure sent a shiver up my timber. Plus I just love tweaking Inspector Hamilton about Thompson.

As for Hunter, I bet he's about to move into the top tier now that McCain is about to exit. I don't see any traction for Mitt and frankly, that health care plan he put into law in MA is a non-starter for me. OTOH Hunter has always impressed me. I love the guy, he is a no bullshit man.

Duncan Hunter doesn't have any money. Even Ron Paul has more $$$ than Hunter.

I think Ron Paul's crazies have discovered C&S. It's just a matter of time before we start getting posts saying "I've been supporting Fred but I think I'll check out Ron Paul" or "Ron Paul is the only true conservative running".

I don't think it is a coincidence that suddenly everyone from other republicans to the dems and WAPO have suddenly started dumping on Fred. Kind of reminds me of last summer when Allen was running...

What? You think this latest twinkie is a Ron Paul guy? Nah. He's just a True Believer nut job.

Ron Paul doesn't have a snowball's chance either. (Thank the good Lord above. He's worse than McCain.) Paddy Power gives Paul 40-1 to win.

I agree Ron Paul doesn't have a chance either but he some CRAZY followers and for some reason a decent amount of money.

Rodger: Can't you tweak your templates to replace the word 'Anonymous' with 'Leftard'? It would make life so much easier.

Hunter will be the VP candidate.
