It's both, perception is reality. Goreons perceive a problem, so they will base their purchasing decisions on it. Normal intelligent people realize it's bullshit and ignore it, so GE has nothing to lose from them in this regard, except the mighty few who are principlied indignant. As a consultant, I sell it this way to companies: "Yes, global warming may be complete bullshit, but that and the "science" behind it is utterly irrelevant. It is the politics and the public perception that matter to your business. Far better to have cynics against you than fundamentalists.
