Armless Man Excels

Meet Jimmy Goldman

One man in a small southern Illinois town has led his team to two straight championships. It is a feat that is quite extraordinary, once you learn more about Jim Goldman.

Goldman is the team's pitcher. Because of his physical stature, that title has been given a whole new meaning.

It's a hot July day -- typical for this time of year, but Goldman has to cut the grass. What isn't so typical is how he's doing it.

"I get people all the time walk by me. They'd walk by, stop and they'd look (and think), 'He was using his feet to do that,'" said Goldman.

Goldman was born without arms. [Story] [Pictures]
But, can he unsnap a bra at the drive-in?

I've always been blown away by people like that. I first saw a video of a woman born that way putting on nail polish and making coffee. I'd love to see him climb that tree.

My Dad only had one arm (due to a car crash when he was young and stupid) and it was amazing to see him work very complex heavy highway construction equipment with more finesse than a two-armed man. Having one arm never stopped him from becoming an engineer, setting up 20-ton machines or machining delicate parts to 0.0001" accuracy by feel alone.

Guys like Mr. Goldman need to get a bit more press and held up as a shining example of what you can do when you don't live your life whining about minor problems.

I have unsnapped a bra with my toes.

It's just a matter of motivation.
