A comment in
an earlier post on Larry Craig expressed the wish that the folks of
Idaho would keep him. I was immediately reminded of Bob Bauman.
Rep. Bauman represented the very conservative Eastern Shore of
Maryland. He wasn't my congressman, but I loved him because he
was a real conservative, and one of Maryland's very few
Republicans. Here's the Wiki.
“ | A
devout Catholic, he was married to Carol Dawson, a fellow founding
member of YAF, and they had four children. Bauman was arrested on
October 3, 1980, for attempting to solicit sex from a 16-year-old male
prostitute and "oral sodomy" [1], contributing to his electoral defeat
one month later.

The Eastern Shore folk elected Democrat Roy Dyson to replace him. Here's the Wiki.
“ | In
addition to disclosures about Dyson's receipt of campaign funds and
honoraria from defense contractors, Dyson's political demise was
hastened by the suicide of his administrative assistant and top aide,
Tom Pappas, on May 1, 1988. Pappas leaped from a New York City hotel on
the day that an article appeared in the Washington Post asserting that
Pappas had hired young male staffers in Dyson's office and attempted to
force them to drink and socialize with him. The revelation caused
speculation about Dyson's own sexual orientation but he denied that he
was a homosexual.

The Eastern Shore folk dumped Dyson and elected school teacher Wayne
Gilchrist, who vowed to limit himself to three terms, and
refuse any pay raise (which was a big deal a the time). That was
16 years ago and the lying sumbitch is still there (he took the pay
raise too). Thanks to Gerrymandering, Gilchrist is now my
congressman, and I will do whatever I can to get him defeated. He
joins democrats in every meaningful vote, and is as stinking a RINO as
exists. Did I say he was a liar?
So there you have it. Larry Craig, like Bob Bauman, is
a
good guy whose biggest crime, IMO, is the stupid way he's acting
now, and I'm afraid he's toast. His successor won't be
better, but could be worse.
