And the Scandinavians are paying through the nose for their folly. My former exchange students in Denmark and Sweden report that the Muslims are a big problem financially and culturally in that they are not assimilating, are mostly uneducated and unemployable, are heavy contributors to crime statistics, and are for the most part on the state dole and demanding more.

I don't understand what obligation America has to anyone else in the world other than to mind our own business. Anything beyond that is a gift, not a right.

Anonymous said...: You all seem to be missing one very important point -- The Iraqis mentioned in the article are NOT MUSLIMS they are Chaldeans, Iraqi Catholics. These people are some of the hardest working, and most pro-American people I know.

I am a white American, I served in Viet Nam, I live in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit, I am proud to be a conservative Republican, and agree with you that Carl Levin and John Conyers both assholes of the worst kind.

The thing about the Chaldean community is that they own business, pay taxes, employ other Americans and as a community they help pay for newly arrived refugees until they can settle into American society. I see this going on in Metro Detroit every day and can attest to the fact it has gone on like this for years. These people are good, productive members whose goal is to assimilate and become American citizens. We should welcome these people.; 8/3/07, 6:41 PM

If they are indeed hard-working folks who will contribute to the community, become fully vested in American culture and values, and will not become a burden like the Great Unassimilated in Paris, then I welcome them, especially if they helped our troops and their lives would be in danger staying in Iraq.

Anonymous said...: Most Chaldeans are Christian. I know quite a few in the Detroit Metro area (primarily Oakland County, just NNW of Dearbornistan). They're Catholic to be exact. No problem with that. Just the Muslims in Dearborn have there own office for Hizbollah, CAIR , and other crazy terrorist muslim organizations.; 8/3/07, 8:29 PM
