Jose Can You See ....

Ay Carumba

Things have gotten so wacky on the immigration front that it wouldn't surprise me if some cites in the United States pulled a Montreal, and banned  English altogether.  I know it sounds stupid but ... what?  WHAT? WTF?

Cripes

My radar is on high scan here in Golden and if & when I see illegals starting to move in, I am outta here. I put up with their shit in Denver for over 30 years and watched as public officals ignored mine and others' pleas for help. They've turned large areas of Denver into wastelands.

When I hear this "path to citizenship" I have to stop myself from vomiting. These illegals want to be American as much as I want to be French. It's just a GD ticket to them and they will milk our country for as much as they can. Go into any government social service office or into Denver General Hospital and the overwhelming(say 90%) majority of people there are GDCS non English speaking illegals. Mostly Mexicans.

To say I'm sick of it is silly. If I was king, once it was ascertained that some one was illegal, their ass would be drop kicked back across the 25' fence at the border. Oh wait, Denver government officals are not allowed to require proof of citizenship and there's no fence. Whadinthehell???

My father and uncles, who kicked Nazi and Jap ass are spinning in their graves

My vision is a little cloudy on this one. First, it is looking more and more like third world countries around here. (Florida) I understand their plight. And just like a child, the illeagles will get away with what ever they can. But, I also believe he should be able to rent his proerty to whoever he wants.

As a landlord myself, I think this story is all hype and no substance, which is a shame becaues I think that actual illegal discrimination in this regard happens all the time and gets zero attention. Here's what I'm sure you don't want to hear:

1. This does not meet the legal definition of discrimination, the Federal Fair Housing Act does not apply to commercial property, only to the sale or rental of residential property.

2. Mr. McKenna does not have a lease. In the letter it even sounds like the landlord offered him one at some point in time, but McKenna still had a month-to-month arrangement. Regardless of whether the property was residential or commercial, a month-to-month agreement can be terminated by either party at any time, within an agreed-upon notice period (usually 30 days, but as many as agreed to or stipulated by local or state law).

3. Owner/developers have horrifying "visions" for their properties on a daily basis. These are not illegal unless local ordinances make them so, which is clearly not the case in Dade county or surrounding areas. Homeowners associations regularly sue their neighbors for such tragic non-conformities to the vision as parking your driveway as opposed to under the carport (which has happened to me), seeding rather sodding your lawn, or using an unapproved variety of grass, or deciding that you would rather have a PO box than pay $500 for the only allowable mailbox under the restriction. All of it clearly unethical, but not in the least bit illegal. Which is why my home now is not located in one of those abominations.

I guess an example would be appropriate: a mall has no "non-discrimination" obligation to rent space to a sex toys store, because it is not compatible with their vision of the property's feel. Legally, this is the same thing, the landlord has no obligation to rent to english-only speaking tenants of his commercial property. Contact your congressman if that doesn't sit well with you, but take care to consider the law of unintended consequences. Do you want a XXX theater next to KayBee toys? SOB lawyers will see no difference between the two cases, even if normal people see it clearly.

Back in the mid 80s I was driving through Fountain Valley, CA. when I got a bad case of the munchies. I spotted an open parking space in front of a small Mom and Pop Grocery store. I ran in quick not really looking at the store I was entering. I grabbed a snickers bar and a diet coke and set them on the counter and reached for my wallet. The clerk ran up my items and said something to me in Spanish.

I looked up for the first time and realized that all the signs in the store were written in Spanish.

I said (in English) "Pardon Me?" The clerk replied in spanish. I looked at the cash register trying to see how much I owed for my stuff but couldn't see the numbers because of the angle of the register. So I asked "How much?"

The clerk started talking again, in spanish. Eventually another guy walks over looks at me standing there with one hand under the back of my jacket where it would look like it was resting on my wallet and he said in very poor English "If you can't understand him you should go somewhere else."

So I did. I drove a couple blocks down the street where I spotted another small grocery store. I also couldn't read any of the signs at this one either. But I ran in, grabbed my snacks, set them on the counter and listened to the old lady behind the counter as she talked to another customer in another language I couldn't understand. It think they were Vietnamese. When it came my turn, the clerk ran up my stuff, said something to me I couldn't understand. When I said "Pardon Me?" she changed over to broken English and told me the price. Then thanked me as I left with my purchases.

I don't know if the Mexican store clerk or owners were here legally or not. And it doesn't matter. If you want to go into business in this country and you expect everyone who comes into your store to be able to speak spanish, you need to move your store south of the border where it belongs.

From that day on, illegal immigration became my number one voting issue.

I'm almost with you David, fighting the GDCS Islamo-terrorists has a small lead. Having had a running gun battle with illegals kinda brings home the havoc these scum wreck. Luckily our top tier Republicans are in line with mainstream values
