Rush Awards

MY daytime hours are spent maintaining the physical plant (tomorrow=driveway sealer), the nights are going to a long planned project - transferring dozens of VHS tapes (I got a video camera in 1982) to DVD. It's such a daunting project that I just couldn't begin, but my goal now is to do one segment a day.  I'm uncovering some real gems. Many of the labels have fallen off, so a birthday party may be sandwiched between a Hill Street Blues and a Redskin game.  I taped almost every Limbaugh television show, and just now ran into the first one.  I offer it for the nostalgia as much as anything, but political junkies will love it.  The second is a video I hunted down after hearing comedian Tim Slagle's "discussion" of Europe during my bedtime hour last night.  Cheers.

BTW, IMO the blog that's most like mine - prolly much better- is SondraK's.

But let us face it.

You've already kicked over more traces than the average guy has ever come across. You've escaped the dreary bonds of modernity. You've achieved notoriety as a result.

A certain notoriety. (Which can and should be inflected several different ways before discarding.)

Pour moi? There is a certain and deadly acknowledgement of who and what I am locally that I can't escape. To find the Remagen Bridge in my life I'd need to live with fallout.

I've lived through a couple of your demarches. I expect you to return. Only because you know the size of Aristotle's "firm place".

I'm just a farm boy, but you? You're brave. And having approached the Rubicon you've only one choice.

SondraK's isn't in the same league. Group vs. individual, "finish your homework" vs. having it cleverly laid out in front of us... God bless you, you're an original.

That said, I did discover you as a result of reading SondraK in summer 2004. A comment that was better than the original post, as I recall.

Speaking of drive-ins, the last one we went to was playing Hunt for Red October. That was a while back. The drive-in went out of business shortly there after. A missing piece of Americana for sure.
