Leni Riefenstahl Award winner Aaron Sorkin

Sorkin's War

All I need to know about heavily promoted movie "Charlies's War" is contained in this sentence:

The anti-Reagan slant of the film is the work of the movie's screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, the Hollywood liberal who regularly attacked conservatives on his television drama "The West Wing," also known as "The Left Wing" because of its liberal bias. [Charlie's movie] Aaron Sorkin's Reagan

Hollywood is fast going down the path of spectator sports for me, except for tennis, but at least I play tennis. Most of the crap that they make doesn't even make my radar screen. When I go to rent a movie, I'll see all these recently released to video movies that I've never heard anything about. I wonder why they don't make movies that will bring people like me out to the theaters in droves? The few times they have in the past couple years, they were blockbusters.

OTOH I have almost a 1,000 DVDs and easily half are these great old film noir flicks. And there's not a whiff of political garbage in any of them but the universally evil Nazis, et.al.

Charlie Wilson was an alcoholic, a philanderer and a cocaine user. No American military or other intelligence agency would allow such a person to keep a security clearance given the risk for blackmail associated with such behavior. That he becomes the "hero" in this story is only for one reason - his party affiliation. Being a Democrat trumps all. Of course you could also truthfully say that Jack Kennedy was a philanderer and a prescription drug abuser. But of course, that was OK because he was a DemocRAT.
