Stem Cells and the President— An Inside Account

This account will weigh heavily in Dubya's favor when historians consider his presidency years hence.  If film makers like Frank Capra are allowed to practice their trade again, and one decides to make this into a movie, Bush will be played by Jimmy Stewart, and the likes of Michael J. Fox by Josef Mengele.   The 2007 published findings from researchers in the United States and Japan demonstrating a technique that allows, without the destruction of human embryos, the creation of stem cells identical to those taken from human embryos changed that debate instantly.  But,  that research was known in 2002 when Ann Coulter tackled the subject in her book The Church of Liberalism. “ ''By contrast, the embryonic stem cell researchers have produced nothing.  They have not even begun one human clinical trial.  They've successfully treated a few rodents, but they keep running into two problems:First, the cells tend to be rejected by the immune system.  Second, they tend to cause malignancies called terratomas - meaning monster tumors.  " The idea that embryonic stem cells are on the verge of curing anything is absurd ... . The only advantage embryonic stem cells once had over adult stem cells was their ability to transform into any type of cell.  But fast advancing research on adult stem cells has stripped away even that.  As of 2002 , adult stem cells were being converted into all three types of cells the body the body produces during the embryonic development.  And adult stem cells were already curing people!"  - The Church of Liberalism, p 193 It was certainly known during the 2004 off-year election campaigns.  Like Climate Change , the facts were out there for anyone willing to look at them, and surrender the political opportunity they represented to truth.  Democrats, stay seated.
