Aegis defense program

WHY WE WIN




“This program has been under development for many years. When Clinton insisted on a land based missile defense system (less provocative, since all system components were based in the USA) the USN had already begun its off the shelf Aegis defense program which has continued as a very low key program. Clinton was adamant in spending hundreds of billions of new TAX dollars while the USN improved its low cost weapons platform, which now appears superior to any other MDS.

Reminds of when Robert S. MacNamara was SecDef. The TFX was supposed to be one airplane design that would do everything for both the Navy and the Air Force. From strategic nuclear bombing to dogfighting. He actually made it illegal for the services to work on alternative designs.

Fortunately, the Navy uhhhh skirted the law and started work on what became the F-14. When the Navy version of the TFX, the F111B, was canceled, they weren't left with nothing.

Yes! Yesyesyes!!! Go NAVY! Does anyone remember a certain quote that may be applied here, not just the Corps? Improvise, adapt, and overcome. SOME of us not in the political sphere care enough about this nation to find ways around the restrictions the politicos would place upon us. We'll save America DESPITE the government.
