Think of these greenies as baby seals ...

Here's Hoping I Cause Some Strokes

I took two of them, but don't give a ratsass what my footprint is because it's bogus crap!  The Nature Conservancy, for instance,  includes the amount of meat consumed in its calculations.  That of course sends me into baby seal bashing mode. Here's Vilmar's experience.

Hey, Rodger, with all the talk about "carbon footprint" and the nonsense associated with it, have you ever tried to compute your own?

I have.

According to "BP," I produce 16 tons of CO2, less than the average of 18.58

 http://www.bp.com/extendedsectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9015627&contentId=7029058this

According to these yahoos at Carbon Footprint I produce 24 tons and they say the average is 20 tons.  They then try to make you feel bad by saying the world average is 4 tons.  What they don't say is that 5 billion of the 6 billion on the planet live in corrugated shacks or mud huts with no electricity, running water, personal cars, TV, computers, etc.  They want us to go down to 2 tons per person!  In other words, live in caves and wipe our asses with leaves.

 http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx

Nature.org  says I produce 44 tons!!!!!!!!  They also say the US average is 27 tons and the world average is 5.5 tons.

 http://www.nature.org/initiatives/climatechange/calculator/

The yahoos at Green Yahoo say I produce 16.4 tons with a US average of 9.4

 http://green.yahoo.com/calculator/results

The Earthlab folks say I produce 15 tons.

 http://www.earthlab.com/carbonProfile/LiveEarth.htm

 ClimateStar.org says I only produce 11.8 tons.

 http://go.ucsusa.org/calculator.html

And what we would think would be the best source for accurate information (given it is their job) the folks at the EPA say I produce 13 tons.  The US average?  20 tons.

If all these flamers can't agree amongst themselves what we produce nor what we should produce why is anyone even listening to them?  Just check out the wild variations in my numbers---anything from 12 to 44 tons!!  Almost 400% from one extreme to the other.

Just thought you might want to know.  (Hope you’ve not done something like this as I’ve not searched your blog for it)

Vilmar

P.S. If you run this it’d be interesting to see what others get for their numbers.

Hoooo-rah. So here I am recycling almost everything now, buy the efficient lights, not use excessive amounts of energy by leaving lights on, I bought an electronic thermostat to program when the furnace kicks in etc. Still the BP survey says I jam 36 tons of CO2 per year (Cdn Avg is 11.71). Well they should be happy (British Petroleum BP)because most of it comes from my MFing Truck, and the airplane travel I do for work. To you know get a pay cheque and pay the huge taxes, to help the po folks and social programs here on the home front.

Ass Hats, they are a MFCS Oil company, guess they want Davidsuzuki and Algore to recognize them for doing something.

I love your blog.

I got a massive stroke in 1990 when I was 33 years old. I don't wish a stroke on anybody - socialists or the libertarians or anyone......

"Here's hoping I cause some head exploding!" no problem.....

or

"Here's hoping I cause some bed wetters pee in the pants.." no problem.....

Fuckin' A! 110 tons! This reminds me of back in college when clubs starting installing breathalyzer machines so you could see if you were too drunk to drive. We used to have contests to see who would blow the highest BAC.

If I wasn't so busy (actually lazy), I would create a website that would sell items specifically made to increase your carbon footprint.

i.e. A radiant heating system that would be installed in your driveway and walkway. That way, you would never have to shovel snow again. Just turn it on during a storm and melt everything away.

So if I'm just an average Joe, 1/2 of a household, I produce 26.5 tons of greenhouse gases annually?

Awesome! That averages out to freakin' 145 pounds every day. I feel like a belching smokestack every time I exhale! In, out. Take that Gaia! DD

Hooah!
Our household does 15 to 88 tons depending on which calculator we use.

Methinks there are some Algore algorythms at work here.

It's obvious air travel is the real biggie, so perhaps we should ban it. Yannow, that's a great idea, because it would ground Algore and we wouldn't hear his bilious bilge anymore.
