This from our French "allies: in 1985:
He was staying at the Hotel de Crillon in Paris, a luxurious hotel across the street from the U.S. Embassy. Tipped off by the Lebanese, U.S. officials asked French police to arrest him and turn him over. Instead, as previously reported in The Washington Post, French agents met with him several times over a six-day period, according to a source closely involved, and worked out an agreement to release him in return for the freedom of a French hostage.
I was looking at the pictures of his funeral in Beirut; what a target of opportunity! One 500 pounder or a cruise missle there would have killed most of hezbollah leadership and hundreds of hezbollah terrorists. I guess I don't understand politics.

My friend, 1stLt Chuck Schnorf, USMC, Citadel grad, a good Christian man with a beautiful young wife lost his life in Beirut. This isn't even a down payment.

we are playing far too nice with these a-holes.
What we need is a cheap-assed cruise missile. No fancy terrain following, no stealth, no nothing ... just a J-Dam guidence package and a big f*cking warhead obviuosly entering their airspace and erasing the target.
Useless against a decent military, but a damned cheap way to erase assholes like this.
If some third world shithole's government ( France included ) bitches about it, invite them to declare war ... if they dare. And suggest they turn the assholes over next time. -
