The Chicken Doves

Elected to end the war, Democrats have surrendered to Bush on Iraq and betrayed the peace movement for their own political ends

MATT TAIBBIPosted Feb 21, 2008 12:00 AM

Quietly, while Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have been inspiring Democrats everywhere with their rolling bitchfest, congressional superduo Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have completed one of the most awesome political collapses since Neville Chamberlain. At long last, the Democratic leaders of Congress have publicly surrendered on the Iraq War, just one year after being swept into power with a firm mandate to end it.

Solidifying his reputation as one of the biggest pussies in U.S. political history, Reid explained his decision to refocus his party's energies on topics other than ending the war by saying he just couldn't fit Iraq into his busy schedule. "We have the presidential election," Reid said recently. "Our time is really squeezed."  (continued)

This Rolling Stone rant is fraught with dire implications for the democrat party, especially if they are unable to put a comrade in the White House this go-around.  We're talking crack-up baby.  But that's not what caught my attention.  this is.

With guys like this in charge of the anti-war movement, much of what has passed for peace activism in the past year was little more than a thinly veiled scheme to use popular discontent over the war to unseat vulnerable Republicans up for re-election in 2008.

What "guys like this?"  According to Matt Taibbi, the anti-war movement is being run by "a consulting firm called Hildebrand Tewes — whose partners, Steve Hildebrand and Paul Tewes, served as staffers for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC)."

Which means, of course, that democrats *feigns shocked expression* have been coordinating with know communist front organizations like those found here.  The whole deal, from the get-go, has been little more than an effort to return democrats to power.  I knew that, and you knew that, but here we have a useful idiot describing the machinery.

We should be excited, because now we know who can be legally thrown down abandoned wells.  Saddle up.

Long ago an empire ruled all the world known to it. Marvelous things it brought forth to the people: fresh, clean water; standards of measure; paved roads; magnificent buildings; spectacular inventions; universal laws.

Certain factions in the land grew tired of domestic peace and economic stability and began refusing to pay taxes, perform military service, or in traditional ways support the men at the top of the leadership hierarchy. Tensions and tempers ran high, and nothing short of open revolt seemed able to satisfy the people, who had grown fat, rich, lazy, and spoiled under the government’s protection.

Things seemed hopeless until a wise old senator told them the story of the mutiny of the hands and feet against the belly. Their complaint was that the belly was pampered by them, lying comfortably on the support of the body while they did all the work and served it the fruits and meats of the land. They withheld nourishment for so long that the entire system grew weak and unable to fend for itself.

Ultimately it fell and was consumed by roaming scavengers. As they lay in shock, dying of infections and fatigue, the hands and feet realized too late that the body is a system which must live together or it will surely die as one.

I heard that one too, only it was the asshole that all the other organs were ragging on. Point is, if there is disunity, there's going to be a reckoning.

When you have large swaths of the country that are not just the opposition but are openly working to undermine our traditions, destroy our military, impose confiscatory tax rates, open our borders, destroy our public school system, oh wait, they've already pegged that one.

If I might paraphrase TJ, The Tree of Liberty needs to refreshed from time to time with the blood of traitors... How in the world Mr Thick Skin(Bush) let the The NYT get away with the fountain of secrets they published is beyond me? McCain's AG better have some pineapples, I hope to God it's Rudy

No external enemy can defeat us. In anything. I've traveled all over and have yet to see anyplace's way of doing something to be better than our way. It is the pessimism generated by the blame America first crowd, the CSMF lefties that are our real enemy.

That's right,MM. We hold the seeds of our own destruction. The exact quote is, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson

We have been too complacent for too long. Conservatives have been preaching to the choir and letting the Media tell it's lies to ensure that our numbers do not grow. It has even been a while since I have seen much evidence of Conservatism on FOX news. Without our noticing, the Republican party has apparently wandered far from it's Conservative roots.

This is the real reason why we all bemoan the loss of Ronald Reagan. We desperately need someone who has great charisma and can, in a friendly, good-natured manner explain the common sense of Conservative principles. That man was able to single-handedly counter all the leftist propaganda of the Media. Without someone like that we are very much in a war of attrition. People are forgetting that government is not the solution but the problem. If things don't change, the Tree of Liberty is heading for a good refreshing.
