TET

Celebrating the TET Victory ...
until ...

Ho-Ho CronkiteI am reminded that yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the greatest military victory to that point  in U.S. history, the TET Massacre.  In the early morning hours of Jan 31st, 1968, more than 80,000 communist troops attacked more than 100 towns and cities, including 36 of 44 provincial capitals.  When the smoke cleared, the Viet Cong were destroyed as a fighting force.  Utterly.  This was not just a blow to ratbastardcommies in Vietnam; their American political wing was also stunned.  In a fierce counter attack, Wally "Ho-Ho" Cronkite used his CBS News platform to erase the victory with the simple expedience of declaring it a defeat.  That's all it took, and still takes, in post WWII America.  Ho-Ho is still alive and sailing with the cadre.

Then came Dan Rather.

Then came Katie Couric.

A proud tradition.

My late father, a civilian was taken prisoner during Tet (he was with State in Hue) and held until the third round of prisoner releases in '73.
I will never forgive the media and especially CBS for lying to us about what really happened.

I guess most people think of Walt Crankcase as a wise old fatherly figure and a sage correspondent...I always thought of him as a low down traitorous f**king dog, a lowlife motherf**king C**ksucker,a g*ddamned dildo, and a F**king Communist......Of course, I mean that in the nicest way..Yeh right.

The driveby media, which reminds me of this joke:

A young man graduated law school, passed the bar, rented an office, ran an ad, and opened for business. For three days no one showed up. Finally the next morning he saw a man approaching his door. Wanting to impress his first potential client, the young lawyer picked up the phone. He motioned the man in while shouting, "Absolutely not! You tell those clowns in New York that I won't settle for less than a million. We're ready for trial, and I'll take this case to the Supreme Court if necessary. Fine. I expect an answer within 24 hours." The lawyer replaced the handset and turned to the man. "Sorry about that," he said, "What can I do for you?" The man replied, "I'm from AT&T. I came to hook up your phone."

Wasn't Cronkite once called "The Most Trusted Man in America"?

That poll was conducted by the same people, and in the same fashion as the one that named Hillary the "smartest woman in America."

Just think - if it weren't for the Internet most of the country would still be swallowing this BS wholesale!

Even now with all the media alternatives look at how many people in this country think we are losing in Iraq.

Cronkite has been senile for years. "The Most Trusted Man in America" probably hasn't even been able to wipe his own ass for several decades.

When I was in Army Special Forces school they specifically addressed the Tet offensive in terms of unconventional warfare. Without going into too much boring (and maybe unwise to relate) detail, they taught us that while the VC managed to wage unconventional warfare reasonably well, when they made the premature decision to rise up and attack as conventional troops, we kicked the snot out of them. There were some initial successes since it took us by surprise, but we rolled all that back and inflicted a serious hurt on them.

And maybe I'm getting old, but I sure like the girl wearing the miniskirt and boots in the photo.

I was there for TeT I helped retake the old capitol city of Hue. I along with some other guys was taken to a grave just out side the city where the commies murdered over 600 people. But I do no0t think that made Walters news story. The Cong was destroyed and never able to mount a attack after Tet.
