The Africans where cast in slavery when they lost wars versus other Africans...they where sold to Muslim
slave traders who made them cross the Sahara, with a 95% loss...later
Arabs turned them over to Americans(i.e. French, English, Portugese and Spanish)for better profits.

The slaves not bought out by the muslims where butchered standing and the body parts carried home for lunch.

Note: The Muslims got interested in buying African slaves when Europeans
learned to defend themselves against Barbary Slavers...before,
all coastal area of Europe where
depopulated by slavers.
Christian slaves where so numerous that they where cheaper than an onion!
Compare with the $6,000 that a
black slave would be worth in New
Orleans...
