Reader Robert, who comments here as "B" ( I think) wrote a note to Newt, and got a response.

> Dear Robert,
>
> Newt is taking part in Al Gore's "We Can Solve It" ad campaign because he believes that we need to work together to find solutions for protecting and improving the environment. While Newt does not believe that we have absolute proof of global warming or that humans are at the center of it, he believes that a debate over the right environmental and energy policy is vital for our future.

> As outlined in his 2007 book, Contract with the Earth <http://newt.org/AContractwiththeEarth/tabid/220/Default.aspx> , Newt advocates "Green Conservatism," an innovative, market-based, common-sense approach to protecting the environment by rewarding conservation through incentives while fostering "green" economic growth.
>
> Newt continues to believe that an entrepreneurial-led and market-based incentive approach can best solve the challenges of protecting and improving the environment while avoiding costly carbon taxes, cap and
> trade, more government regulations, more control by bureaucracies and more litigation.
>
> Green Conservatism values clean air and water, land preservation, prosperity, biodiversity, the reduction of carbon gasses in the atmosphere, and solutions based upon science, innovation and technology. Newt's argument remains that conservative principles can be the drivers for effective and accountable conservation solutions.

Well done B!  Bottom line,  Newt has capitulated to the notion that there is political hay to be made by playing the "we humans are causing Climate Change" farce. How insulting is "taking  an entrepreneurial-led and market-based incentive approach?"   No, Newtsky, if you had any moral fiber, you'd be talking more like James Inhofe, and not  playing ball with these Green fascists.  I should have expected this from a "FDR Conservative. "

Thanks again for the use of your words, Rodger. I’ll return them at the next Barn meeting.

The thing that had my wife screaming at this ad was not the environmental crap (that only elicited an eye roll). It was when Newt tells us to contact our leaders in Washington. She immediately shouted at the TV 'You're our representatives, not our leaders, asshole'.

Good woman. And she's right. Newt's a lost cause now and the elitism is it.

Newt lost me when he debated John Kerry on global warming, he bent over so Kerry could squirt a big green discharge of goo, and ask for more.Newt is a total POS.
