The Mustang is my favorite plane of all time.
It's amazing how one picture can make a persons whole day.
Thanks.
I'm rather partial to the Warthog myself. If I'd had any inkling that such a beast was to be made, I would have made a different career choice. But then, I'd like to fly helicopters too.

Damn! They just flew past the UN Building!
Sigh. That's beautiful.
I wanted to fly the Warthog, too. A flying gatling gun! What's not to love!? It's a "get in close and duke it out" kind of weapon, not the "fire a missle at a radar blip from miles away" type. In that plane you can only attack what you can see, and you get to see the results. Cooooool.
I bet it was tricky flying to take that pic. The hog's max speed is probably close to the modern jet's minimum.
The P-51 is one of the most beautiful machines ever made, and maybe the only truely beautiful war machine. I always thought it resembled a fish, which makes a lot of sense as the same laws of physics apply to both.
As a pilot, I just have to say that this picture is a thing of beauty (and my new desktop). Thanks for making my day!

Kewl! Were they there to bomb the crap out of the New York Times?
Beautiful picture Rodger! Thanks!
I know it never saw active service, but I still think the XB-70 was the most beautiful plane ever.

I think they'll get to the NYT after flattening the UN...

I think I leaked into my pants just a little.
No matter how much firepower or force the other three aircraft can project, you just KNOW they would all rather be flying that Mustang.

About 3 years ago, the boss and I flew over to Ft Smith, Ar, in the company airplane - one of the most technologically advanced Twin Commanches in the world, and a beautiful plane to boot. When we got back to the airport, there were two F-16 pilots at the FBO waiting on a new tire for one of their planes to be flown in from their home base. I started a conversation with one of the pilots about his bird, and he asked about the Twin - long story short, the boss gave him the full tour, and I'll never forget the look on the boss's face when an F-16 pilot said that he thought our plane was the coolest thing he ever saw. I offered to trade him, but he declined...
