I watched this woman--Dr. Temple Grandin--give a lecture on the University House channel. (Since they killed RFD TV, what's left?)
It was fascinating. Here's a woman who is clearly autistic talking about the effects of her autism on her life and career. Watching her at first is painful. But as you listen, you begin to realize that there is a fascinating woman inside her ticks.
For the last week I've been thinking about the ideas and theories of understanding and learning she presents.

Is it possible that that we tend to elect people who simply can't see patterns in the world around them? Is it possible that the television has reduced our populace to "picture thinkers"?
Asking for an intellectual discussion is frustrating, both for them and for me, because these people can't make reductive arguments? They are stuck being "big picture"?
This, the motive behind all the gab that politicians and Lefties use when they talk about the Visioning Process?
In other words, their thinking is captured by the way they think. They don't even see the limits to their thinking...it would require them to think in new or different ways.
RFD TV is off the air? Noooooo. It's the thing I miss most with Verizon.
I had to go and check but it is still on DirectTV ch 379.
