Today's HFS

Todays ...
Holy f-n ...

The family contends metal baseball bats are inherently unsafe for youth games because the ball comes off them much faster than from wooden bats. The lawsuit will also be filed against Little League Baseball and a sporting goods chain that sold the bat.
"Ambulance chaser Ernest Fronzuto says "Domalewski will needs millions of dollars to pay for my services, but that's why god gave us Rawlings."

Aluminum baseball bat.  Ernest P. Fronzuto.   Yum.  I mean ouch.  I'm scrubbing my mind.  Sorry.

Ya know... given the chance, I believe I could "swing for the fence" and knock that silly grin off his face with either a wood or aluminum bat.

If you take an endless supply of lawyers and an room full of people with enough resources to sue everybody in sight, in due time you can probably effectively, eliminate children's sports programs in the USA.

C'mon guys. Stop panicking. You are starting to sound like Algore. Grow a pair.

This is a freak and unfortunate accident. Baseball bat companies aren't held liable by judges and juries for freak and unfortunate accidents. They are only held liable by judges and juries if they are negligent.

Stop being Algore.

Children's sports programs could go the way of municipal fireworks displays and municipal swimming pools. The insurance costs can make all these programs prohibitive.

Remember lawn darts? or fireworks?
cap guns with no stupid blaze orange muzzle? Pill bottles that you could open when your were ill? toilettes that flushed once, and worked? or cars that you could take outa park without having to press the break? I better run out and buy a couple aluminum bats before they are all verbotten.

And the wooden bats that crack and splinter and send half bats flying in all directions?

While the accident is disastrous for the child and his family, the search for a guilty party in the bat manufacturer and sales force is ridiculous and opportunist.

Since Aluminum Bats have only been around since I was a kid (some 40+ years ago) haven't the parents had time to decide if they want their kids playing little league, which uses these bats for decades?

Couldn't they enroll him/her in a wiffle ball league if they were so worried that the kids were playing with dangerous weapons?

And they say he wasn't a strong pitcher, but doesn't physics work differently if I still remember high school physics? A slow pitch can never be hit back as hard as a fastball, all else held constant.

Sad state we are sliding into...

Let me get this straight: they have a hole big enough to need spackling to fill in the basement wall from the arrow that penetrated the reinforced concrete wall shot by the kid while playing archery in said basement, but pitching against a metal bat is dangerous because the bat manufacturer tries to "liven things up" and make the game more fun and faster paced?

Didn't they ever teach the kid to get defensive after the pitch and ready himself in case it gets hit straight to him (the catcher is the only player to the batted ball than the pitcher, but the batter tends to slow down balls going towards the catcher by applying force in the opposite direction).

This is a kid. He's not at blame for anything in this tragic affair. The parents, otoh, perhaps recruited by the sob ambulance chaser, are behaving poorly. The ambulance chaser is another melanoma on society.
