It's bad enough that NBC lost Tim Russert, but a look at the  network's replacement  "talent"  pool shows just how devastating that loss is.  Chris Matthews?  OMG!   Keith Olbermann? OMFG!. Could it be more godawful?  Consider David Gregory . His churlishness, and transparent hatred for President  Bush, and Republicans led to a string of press briefing bullying and temper tantrums.  He is almost a match for Keith Olbermann's quality of making people want to baseball-bat his lower jaw. But Wait!  We can put that aside now, because Gregory has found Jesus. Er, found himself. Consider his explanation for why he spiked his own news story about Rev. Wright's visit to the Clinton White House.  “ Gregory, who is Jewish, admitted he has had ethical struggles in the past and has relied on the Jewish law on speech to guide him in his editorial decision making for his MSNBC daily afternoon show “Race for the White House.”   “I stopped,” Gregory said. “I had just come from my study session and said, ‘No, that would be oppressive to remind Bill Clinton of his past on my program. And so, I elected not to play that sound byte because I wanted to, you know, try to take a little high ground.”   According to Jewish Law, it is a sin discredit or say negative thing about a person, even if they are true, a sin called lashon ha-ra. Gregory said using that for his show would have compromised those religious and moral guidelines. ” I call dibs on Gregory. Olbermann too.
