Lawyers of the Filthy Kind

Tort Scum

Were that this was Scruggs and Weiss, but it's only Iran's morning executions. What? Oh crap, I've been served!
In a world where ratbastards are oozing out of every crack, it was easy for me to forget the tort lawyer. A few things reminded me to make amends.  One is this piece in IDB, Kings Of Torts Have Lowered Plaintiffs' Bar
Two of the most prominent class-action lawyers in the country, Melvyn Weiss and Dickie Scruggs pleaded guilty this year to criminal abuse of the legal system — Weiss to kickbacks to clients who agreed to serve as instant plaintiffs, Scruggs to attempting to bribe a state court judge in Mississippi in a dispute over legal fees.
The editorial concludes with the suggestion that "It would be nice if the class-action lawyers reformed themselves. But if not, someone should file a lawsuit."  Egad, who isn't already?  We have the United States Congress suing OPEC, because they won't lower oil prices.  And if that isn't lame enough for you, "Iran Threatens to Sue Western Nations Over 'Damaged' Reputation."
