Marines not charged

Agendizing

Chuck Muth reports that two Marine officers in a unit that was accused of killing as many as 19 Afghan civilians in 2007 will not face criminal charges.
Without reservation I give the benefit of the doubt to the Marines in this matter - especially considering the wave of over-lawyering and second-guessing that’s been going on over our military’s operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. But this case struck a particular chord with me because of the HUGE difference in how two different media outlets reported on the case. About the only thing both agreed upon was that an “explosive-packed minivan exploded near the unit's convoy.”
That's the good part, but his comparison of how two press agencies reported the story is what's instructive, as if we need more instruction in this area. [Two Tales of an Ambush]

A Marine special operations outfit...mowed down 19 civilians...after a suicide car bomb exploded harmlessly next to a Humvee.

Someone at the New York Daily News needs to be bitch-slapped. That is just revolting.

The BBC does see two sides to a story..the terrorist side and the jihadi side!

This sort of thing used to bother me. Now I take solace in the knowledge that after the revolution... well... then they'll hear my side. If you know what I mean. There just won't be enough lamp posts.
