Quicktime

No Good Rotten Software

Doug Ross @ Journal links to People who need to stop writing software None happen to resonate here, but he saves the day with his own good bashing of a personal software nemesis - Apple.
Apple's Quicktime didn't make the list, but deserves to. Apple: I just want to play a video on a webpage somewhere. It happens to require Quicktime. I do not want a system tray icon (what in the name of Jerry Wozniak would I do with it anyhow?). I do not want free Quicktime offers. I do not want all of my preferences overwritten. I do not want a desktop icon. I just want to watch the freaking video!

Which is why I use the free Media Player Classic, so I don't allow Quicktime an opportunity to sneak in under the tent flap.

I always decline Quicktime, the overbearing intruder and carrier of disease.

All of that is absolutely true. I hate Quicktime. Now you have to get the Itunes with it or some fool software.

I love Media Player Classic. Coupled with the K-Lite codec pack and quicktime/realplayer alternative plugins I can ditch a ton of annoying software.

I use ACME by the roadrunner guy.

Careful Ozaob.....Those ACME devices are dangerous..Many times they will backfire on you...Refer you to the cases of a Mr. W.E.C. of Mesa Ariz. and sometimes Taos N.M., when he gets well.
