just a little observation of what I've seen used by the russians in this invasion. Russian Tanks obsolete T-54's and T-70's with reactive Armour of 1980's technology. Troops with out body armour out dated weapons no new side arms or rifle's. All the squad level weapons that I saw where of 1980's vintage. No radio's at squad level. Lets don't even start about there out dated Air Force. The Russians armed forces are in a sorry state.

You are correct. There were something like 1 million Ruskie troops going in to fight the 37,000 Georgians. The only way they could win was through am absolute superior number of troops.
Their equipment is old, their training is spotty at best, they lost a Backfire bomber to a ground-to-air missile (that the Georgians purchased from Russia) and a top General was killed in fighting. The Georgian navy was also having it's way with their Russian counterparts until the Russian Air Force bombed Georgia's relatively small navy out of existence.
Despite the outcome, Russia did not shine militarily. If they try the same stunt with a much larger country like Ukraine they may just lose the battle. -

All of which is why Europe, or somebody, had to stand up to this emerging commie thug nation. Putin has Iran's oil wealth and chest thumping bellicosity, and pretty soon will be reequipped.
What am I saying? Europe won't even stand up to the Islamo beast about to devour them one-by-one. They'll be begging Russia to save them in five years. -
