In the bad old days, when the wall was still up, there were two players who made NATO real. The US of course, and the West Germans, because they had a real capability to stand up an honest to goodness combat capability in about two weeks if they mobilized their reserves. My guess is the krauts don't want to fight anymore. Maybe they will after the Russians rape all of their women again.

Failure to respond to the invasion of a Nato member country would put NATO with the UN ... useless, and unworthy of another dime of American enabling moolah.
I think Germany and France may actually welcome the opportunity to act like men again. Norway is just inches away from becoming an Islamic nation. They know that an all out bloody war to stop Islam in the rest of Europe is just around the corner, and it's time to quit playing the role of world girlyman.
That's what I think.
We english like to fight...don't count us out...although prefered opponents are germany and France.
France? Act like men again? When was the last time?

Well, there was them Frenchies that tried to kill de Gaulle. That was good.
Condi would make a great president.
My bad. I also forgot about the time they sank the 'Rainbow Warrior'. Definitely sprouted a set there.

Once again, the world is short-changing George W Bush. He's in the process of putting a smackdown on Russia. Mark my words, in 20 years when the dust has settled, more than just me will want him on Mt. Rushmore.
Agreed. I've said several times Alear, that in the long view of history his middle east initiatives and stuff like this will be what's written about. Bush has changed the world's political landscape, for the better, like few others have.
