Anonymous

inappropriate tears here boss
The group that Palin hacker David Kernel was associated with is Anonymous ...  a "loose confederation of online troublemakers," according to this WIRED article.

For those unfamiliar, Anonymous is a group you can't join, except by hanging out for a long time in the internet's most juvenile corners -- usually one of the image boards where everyone posts anonymously. 4chan's /b/ board -- or random -- seems to be the main hangout, though other chans and IR channels seem to serve as adjunct clubhouses as well. The hangouts have almost no rules --  though using some variation of the terms fag, nigger and jew seems mandatory in every post.

g

Though Fox News famously and hilariously called Anonymous "hackers on steriods (sic)," in large part they have little skill besides knowing how to use a web proxy to mask their IP addresses.
g

The basic repertoire? Prank phone calls, ordering pizzas to someone's house, flooding a message board with obscene ASCII art. Advanced techniques include finding a way into someone's MySpace account in order to send messages to their friends saying they are gay.

What are Anonymous' greatest or worst hits?

I read this yesterday (Sunday) morning, and it was here that - and I really hate me for this about me - but I almost coughed up a lung as visions of "prank" #1 danced through my head ...

I am glad that you are posting about David Kernell.

The FBI served a search warrant on his appartment on Saturday at midnight, during the middle of a party (after the UT loss to the Florida Gators).

This 20 year old chess champ is in serious trouble, right here in my city.

We have outstanding Federal District Judges who take Federal crimes seriously.

If my memory serves me well, I think that defendants who are convicted of Federal crimes have to serve 80% of their respective sentences and that the sentences must conform to minimum Federal sentencing requirements.

It looks like this kid is going to learn how to play house real soon.

You may consider me your Knoxville, Tn correspondent on this matter.
