Obama's Attic

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them
Obama's cover-up.  No, not that one.  This.

Al Franken  was on the right path when he penned "Lying Liars," but he's blind. I'm not.

STANDING BY THE STORY
The Obama campaign spent more than five hours on Monday attempting to figure out the best refutation of the explosive New York Post report that quoted Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari as saying that Barack Obama during his July visit to Baghdad demanded that Iraq not negotiate with the Bush Administration on the withdrawal of American troops. Instead, he asked that they delay such negotiations until after the presidential handover at the end of January.

The three problems, according to campaign sources: The report was true, there were at least three other people in the room with Obama and Zebari to confirm the conversation, and there was concern that there were enough aggressive reporters based in Baghdad with the sources to confirm the conversation that to deny the comments would create a bigger problem.

Instead, Obama's national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi told reporters that Obama told the Iraqis that they should not rush through what she termed a "Strategic Framework Agreement" governing the future of U.S. forces until after President Bush left office. In other words, the Iraqis should not negotiate an American troop withdrawal.

According to a Senate staffer working for Sen. Joseph Biden, Biden himself got involved in the shaping of the statement. "The whole reason he's on the ticket is the foreign policy insight," explained the staffer. (Prowler)

Is it true that obama violated the Logan act and if so what are the legal ramifications?
.
Without question, Obama violated the Logan Act. The penalty is not more than three years in prison.

You would think that a lawyer smart enough to become editor of Columbia's Law Review would know better than to violate a law that's been on the books for more than two hundred years.

My mistake. He was head of the Harvard Law Review.

But still, even I knew about the Logan Act.

He doesn't have any excuse.

Harvard Law Review editors are affirmative action appointments.

Be careful.... if the Dems think he may tank, this would be the perfect excuse for them to throw him under the bus and put Hillarybeast back in at the very last moment....

Anybody know when was the last time the Logan Act was enforced? It's B.S. It hasn't been enforced against anyone elected in my lifetime. Kerry should have been hit with it in the 70's. Pelosi and a few others in the last 7 years, too. There's no way it will come to bear on Obama. It's a meaningless, toothless law.

That doesn't mean he shouldn't be hammered with his efforts to delay troop withdrawals. The antiwar crowd will explode.

as AWM says, it has never been enforced in recent memory so it is pointless.

besides, the media will give him a pass, so he passed.

Chuck (1st and 2nd posts),

Have you ever asked why he got into Harvard in the first place? His campaign won't release his transcripts from Columbia. Columbia won't either. All they'll do is confirm that he graduated with a degree in polly sci and "didn't obtain honors".

Now, how does someone make it into Harvard Law if they didn't obtain honors?

The answer is left to the reader.
