HOW WE'LL WIN

YOU WISH!
No, let it be the end of gummint controls and we'll start over

I refuse to believe that a George Soros, and a handful crooked congressman can bring down the United States of America.  Before it comes down to something really ugly, let me make a suggestion.

By promising to send Americans a Christmas stimulus check, Speaker Pelosi has, by extension,  recognized the negative effect taxes have on an economy.  Instead of more short-term, phony baloney feel good action, why not go to our strength?  I'm asking for an immediate suspension of all business and capital gains tax.  We must encourage entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities that exist in the current climate - which is what entrepreneurs do -  and create new businesses,  and new jobs, free from government encumbrance.

Pause for someone to argue that we need business tax, where there are no viable businesses, and capital gains taxes, where there are none, in order to fund the bailout.

Okay. Lets be proactive Americans, then.  Because that's what Americans are -  to our core.  Can Do ! Drill! Drill! Drill!

Unless we affirm the American promise of economic freedom, we cease to be that nation.  In which case, I will support the formation of a new nation of states that will not include areas currently colored blue. We'll start from scratch, and we'll win again.  And it will be fun.

"But the hands-off brand of capitalism in the United States is now being blamed for the easy credit that sickened the housing market and allowed a freewheeling Wall Street to create a pool of toxic investments that has infected the global financial system."

BS. It was the gubmint mucking about in the market and forcing the extension of credit to uncreditworthy parties, among other market place intercessions that wrought this mess. Capitalism works. Supply and demand is not just a good idea - it's the law. Heh. Wish the Feds would get their hands off the steering wheel and let the market, however painfully, correct itself without assuming more and more control of the process. - Vice Sgt Boone

Please! When you create your blue vs red boundary, split the country up by county not state. I'm in the Republik of Kalifornia but live in a conservative county. My congressman actually listened to us and voted against all iterations of the bailout. Since there is nothing between us and the state line except desert we shouldn't end up as an island. We would be nice peninsula for you new Free States of America.

Here's a thought - why don't we quit behaving hysterically (thus making ourselves look incredibly stupid) and stop our panic-stricken bleating and just calm the hell down. I went out at lunchtime and bought some stocks. If each of us spent the meager $200 I did - just think what that would accomplish. And when the market recovers maybe I'll have a teensy little nest egg.
