I agree with your premise, but throw a pineapple ring and a couple cloves on top of the SPAM and bake it...Better than a Hot Dog and peanuts!
Hawaii Jim?
fry it up with rice and green onions.
actually NH...I had explored many way to cook SPAM back in my broke and single days. Now that I am old, broke and married we tend experiment with tofu as it is rumored to be better for one than SPAM
The only way to handle spam is to slice it thinly and cook on high heat until blackened crispy....kinda like BACON. Set it on paper towels before consuming.
I don't know exactly what is wrong with me but I like Spam just about any way it is cooked and served or even just cold out of the can.
Way to much fat and calories but but salty, greasy pig is a good way to go. Of course I was one of those dumb Southern boys back in the Army who like C-Rations our of the can, especially ham and butterbeans which no one else wanted to eat.
I also agree that sliced thin and cook up like bacon is great. The stuff keeps in the can for a long time and if you don't die from a heart attack, it will really keep your energy and stuff working when things get tough.
two slices toasted white bread, slathered with chunky peanut butter, add two slices of thin sliced sizzling Spam, and you gots yerself some supper...
RetRsvMike
Okay RetRsvMike, you've tweaked my appetite, but I'm adding Mayo and lettuce.
Old Texan, you are the only ex-GI on planet earth who liked those C-Rat Ham & Lima Beans. They were terrible and maybe even worse that that. Yuck!
Hey! I'm with Old Texan. I liked those ham and motherf*ckers too!

So, Rodger, we've all found ways to answer the WTF? Spam, but not the ObamiSpam dilemma. Plus, there's a no return policy, even if it's soiled (spoiled).
Pan fried with brown sugar and pineapple. OldeForce
Sliced...
Fried (nice and dark)...
White bread...
Real Mayonnaise...
Tomato....
Onion...
Best sandwich ever....
Pork and beans straight from the can as a side. Ice cold RC Cola (if you can still find one).
Chop up a brick into 1/2 in cubes. brown them in a skillet with some sweet onion and some garlic. When the spam is cooked however you like it. (I like mine crispy brown on the outside)
Add 6-8 eggs, scramble the whole thing together until the eggs are cooked to whatever degree you like them. (I like mine still just a little bit runny)
Add some toast, Dunkin Donuts coffee and a football game on a cold morning and you have breakfast for the family.
We were too poor for spam when I was little. We had to eat Armour Treet.

Rodger, the analogy was outstanding. Perhaps your dear readers would appreciate it more if you substituted spam for say sauerkraut juice.
