For what it is worth, here is why John McCain just might pull it out today, or at least tomorrow morning: 1) The new Battleground Poll has him down by 1.9 percentage points, 2) internal McCain polls show him gaining fast or leading in key states, 3) the stock market is up today, 4) Karl Rove picked Obama.

...and in regard to Rove...

...he simply took averages of the latest polls and assigned states based on who led. Not a very sophisticated approach for one of the pioneers the use of internal research to engineer of strategic "breaks" among undecideds.

Maybe he's building a fire under McCain voters? If you know your guy is going to win, a lot of marginal voters skip that whole voting thing.
