"On Corp, on Private, on Lance Corp, on Sargent.... to the top of the berm, and over the wall, now double-time, double-time, double time all!!!"

Used to remotely "pilot" one of those (not the Marines, the UAV, sheesh what minds!) The Pioneer rocks!!!

Always thought 8 was way too many reindeer, if you could just substitute them for serious minded military personel, 6 would probably be enough...

What a great job Guy! What's to keep someone from "flying" that sumbitch into, oh, I dunno, a crowded grandstand in DC, instead of a cave in Afghanistan? Do you have the software program I can download, so I can test it and make sure it can't be done, before we have a tragedy?

UAV: Santa slay

I love UAVs. This one looks almost identical to one I designed back in grad school (AFIT '75).

There is a video camera mounted under the fuselage. You sit at a control panel which other then the monitor and "Joystick", looks remarkably like a regular cockpit layout. Complete instermentation / gauges.

It was great fun to fly. One of the many things I miss about my time in the Navy.

If you get a good joystick, monitor, and current copy of Microsoft's Flight sim, you can approximate the feeling pretty close. (Though our "sticks" had much better tactile feedback, for obvious reasons.)

And unfortunately, anyone could build and fly one if they had the time money and plans (lots of UAV makes and models out there). I would suspect there are "good guys" out there monitoring for just such an event...ready to either shoot it out of the sky (they don't travel that fast), or "jam" it's frequency causing it to do any number of things ... including possibly just falling outta the sky (different models have different options), which if loaded with some sort o nasty stuff would not be a good option.

On a lighter note. Hope you and yours along with all the folks who pop in here, have the Merriest of Christmases and the Happiest of New Years!!
