fidonet software loaded on old BBS servers.
Go back to running fidonet points hanging off your local BBS.
Fidonet/7 is still going strong in Russia, because it's free and not government controlled.
I have a PC, can that be a Fidonet server? I need help on this one. I don't write programs, I use them.
Fidonet is too formal of a protocol. Take a look at Synchronet.
To get a feel for a BBS try this one: Diamond Mine Online BBS
Do the following:
Open a command prompt by left clicking start button then left click run...
type in cmd
left click OK
In the command prompt window type in the following:
telnet bbs.dmine.net
Then press enter and you should be telnetted into Diamond Mine Online BBS.
If things get that bad, there wont be a phone service to modem over.

Somebody go back and get a sh*tload'a stamps.
