Friday Night Lights

I hate liking television series
here's one that nailed me

My kids Greep and Joe got me hooked on Friday Night Lights.  The show revolves around high school football in fictional Dillon, TX.    It's what I suppose is a soap opera for men that  women can like.  Very smartly edited, fast pace.  NBC has the largest selection of past shows.  At the first mention of anything political though, I'm outta here.  Unless it's about Texas secession of course.

Years ago I realized that television had a lot of very good shows on that I didn't watch. The quality is better than the movies because movies only have to sucker you in once where tv has to keep you coming back every week.

It took me a few years to realize that it was the @#$%ing, endlessly repetitive, insulting, idiot commercials that were driving me away from the tube.

Now, I just download any shows I like and watch them at my convenience without getting treated like a dumbass every ten minutes.

I love Friday night lights, the one thing that drives me nuts though, is that every hit is a Hollywood action movie hit. Nobody gets light tackled and drug to the ground like is the case most of the time in Football. It's always a crushing hit. For a shot that's great, that's the one standard flaw every football movie seems to follow.
