Cloward-Piven v. Friedman - Sowell

Friedman and Sowell v. Commies
CLOWARD-PIVEN STRATEGY
My eldest, and politically inquisitive son was perusing the invaluable  Discover the Networks and came across CLOWARD-PIVEN STRATEGY.

First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Had I heard of it?  I thought so, but  hmmm. ( I wear a tee-shirt with my name, address, and phone number imprinted, front and back.   Gift from the family) Names rang bells ... yes! Voila !

(A thing of beauty)
Milton Friedman gives his brilliant assessment of equality. Tom Sowell heatedly debates Frances Fox Piven of "Cloward-Piven Strategy" fame.

The Cloward-Piven strategy:
"First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse."
[And, like Obama, apostles of Saul Alinsky.]

Here's the Idea Channel where you can watch it all.  There's an ironical introduction by Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger, who subsequently forgot every thing he said.  Look at him now.

Great link, Rodg. I've only gotten to know Sowell in the last 10 years. Good to see that he used to get passionate in his younger years. Today, treasure that he is, he almost seems dispassionate. I do rank him and George Will as our greatest pundits (which I'm sure will draw a disagreement amongst our equally great commenters here. Oh well, Let's add to the mix then: Mitt in 2012).

Turing word: hateduck. WTF?

Watching the first installment on ideachannel.tv and I am reminded of how far we have fallen (the loss of freedom) in my lifetime. The next generation I find myself shoulder to shoulder with in the corporate world has no clue as to what life was like, specifically the struggles against socialism/communism. Watching the Hong Kong factory piece out toy water guns was bittersweet. We vacationed on the beach last year and could find no water guns that actually looked like a gun of any sort. I had money in hand, willing to spend yet no product there because the thought of such a toy had offended someone's delicate sensibilities. The series was a revelation, and mind altering for me. Any kid who graduates from school, who didn't watch it as part of the curriculum, was cheated.

Why are white folks, aka, libs, always speaking for the black mindset???

Because they think it's necessary. They are plantation owners, after all.
