Now that Ann Coulter has joined with John Stewart in denouncing us "birthers" as kook conspirators, I guess the jig is up.  A commenter on Hot Air's followup story wrote: “ the fact that Birthers haven’t invalidated a key piece of documentation they’re claiming is invalid. Can you invalidate it? ” Hot Air comment registration is closed, so I'll have to use my own forum. Let's remember how this all got started.  Obama's paternal grandmother, and his half-sister nonchalantly mentioned that Ann Dunham attempted to fly to Hawaii to deliver her son, but airlines refused her due the the advanced state of her pregnancy.  After Obama was born (on August 4th, 1961), she flew to Hawaii and recorded his Hawaiian birth, probably on August 8th.  That started the real questioning.  How difficult would it have been?  Piece of cake.  The now vaunted birth notices in Hawaiian newspapers would have been generated by that filing - Mr.Morrissey. Here's that "key piece of documentation" that's convinced these folks to put critical thinking caps on a hook, or so it seems. June 16, 2008 Q: Has Obama's birth certificate been disclosed? CNN/US President Jon Klein sent an e-mail to Lou Dobbs’ staff instructing them to put a lid on the birth certificate topic: “It seems this story is dead- because anyone who still is not convinced doesn’t really have a legitimate beef.” Klein asked CNN researchers to dig into the question of why Obama couldn’t produce the original birth certificate. The researchers contacted the Hawaii Health Dept. and confirmed that paper documents were discarded in 2001 when the department went paperless. That reportedly includes Pres. Obama’s original birth certificate. ”  Say What? “ October 2008, Hawaiian officials reported that they had personally verified the existence of Barack Obama’s original birth certificate: State officials say there’s no doubt Barack Obama was born in Hawaii. Health Department Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino says she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate. Fukino says that no state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, ever instructed that Obama’s certificate be handled differently from any other. Anyone? The whole thing is like attempts to sell Global Warming - Lies, Lies, Lies at every juncture.   Sigh I'm sure there's an explanation for Obama telling people he was born in Queens Hospital, and immediately after his election changing it to Kalapani.  I'm sure.  Or,  maybe Stanley Ann did catch that plane .. to Canada?  My point being that Obama, and all of his surrogates have been caught lying, and changing their stories since this thing hit the blogs.  In my experience, people lie to cover something up.  I suspect that this recent cave-in by conservative luminaries, like Coulter, is acknowledgment that Obama, with the full, awesome resources of the United States government at his disposal,  has pulled it off.  They don't want to be discredited when the grainy 8mm film made in the Kalapani delivery room is released.  The one showing  proud papa Barack placing a lei around the neck of baby Barry, while the hospital staff sing Tiny Bubbles.  So, that's it.  You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around anynore. You'll nave Obama doing the kicking. Oh, the odds haven't changed.  It's still 99% he's not US born. Prove me wrong.
