This is one of the reasons why crime rates are so low in national parks. Of course, there are still tweekers and their meth labs so the parks are not crime free.

If what the ranger says about slaves' laboring in the fields creating an aversion to nature is true, then I think a hundred generations of manual toil, poverty and brutish, short lives in primitive Africa might be a stronger influence.
