In an ideal world, when I went to board an airplane, the TSA guy would say "Sir, are you carrying a weapon?". When I replied "No", he would say "Would you like one?"

Look up the term "double action" sometime.

Your statement is accurate only with early 20th Century semi-auto models and single action revolvers.
