Republican Senators
Michael Enzi of Wyoming, Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Olympia Snowe
from Maine, along with Democrats Conrad, Bingaman and Senate Finance Committee
Chairman Max Baucus comprise the so called "Gang of Six." The WaTimes is reporting that they are ...

"... working to strengthen the citizenship requirements for obtaining health
care coverage - a hot topic highlighted by Rep. Joe Wilson's "You lie!"
outburst during President Obama's congressional address.
The group of three Republicans and three Democrats has been trying to
find a bipartisan compromise for weeks, but hope that all six will sign
on is dimming.
Mr. Baucus plans to release a formal health care overhaul proposal early next week, with or without Republican support.
We are starting to reach closure," he said, adding that Monday could be the Gang of Six's last meeting.

Speaking for myself, I'd rather cede Afghanistan and Iraq to al-Qaeda
(which in true Viet Nam cut-and-run tradition Democrats are now
demanding), than allow Obamacare to become law. Not because it
would bankrupt us. We're already bankrupt; most don't
realize it yet. Nope. Because of the iron grip Obamacare, especially in tandem with "Cap & Tax"
gives gummint. While Cap and trade gives government dominion over
every aspect of American business ventures and trumps the concept of
"private property," - the cornerstone of freedom, Obama Care
would cede control over our personal lives. Here, off the top of
my head are actions the Obamacare Commission could take under the guise of health umbrella. Outlaw or tax out of existence as a health menace:
- guns and ammo, any food product, any automobile,
alcohol, toys, appliances, tools, building materials, cell phones,
clothing items ...Hell, lets make this simple. Look around the room you're in and count
the items against which some nut group isn't already demanding action
against. Regulatory agencies don't follow law, they make it with the
stroke of a pen pushed by any GS-5 clerk.
Consider. During the Clinton
horror FDA Commissioner David Kessler, a pissant of the first rank,
attempted to classify tobacco as a drug for the purpose of outlawing it
by fiat. A few of us not employed by the media or Ted Kennedy saw a parallel with alcohol, and asked
where Kessler thought he had the power to do that without amending the
Constitution, as required by Volstead? It went away. Took Obamunists just six months to do the deed and put the tobacco industry under the regulation of the Food and Drug Administration. See the drift?
If Obamacare is passed in any form, it's tantamount to throwing
acid in someone's face. The damage can never be undone.
Ever. We can't kill everyone that needs
killing as it is, so this has to be stopped before the list contains
everyone but you and me -- hiding in some mountain retreat.
ASIDE: While I was looking for Kessler in the attic, I found DOG BITES MAN
- the very first political post I ever made - on the Washington
Post BB, 7-10-96, which was moderated by Howard Kurtz. We
didn't get along. Shoulda quit while I was ahead.. |
