Idiot-in-Chief

The president also was gambling with
America’s reputation, not just his own.

The last 18 hours–that is, President Obama’s airborne pow-wow with Gen. Stanley McChrystal and the stone-wall rejection of the president’s bid to win the Olympics for Chicago–leave my head spinning.  It’s such a weird sequence of events, such an anomalous combination of the deadly serious with the impossibly trivial, that it makes my brain hurt.

Whether he wants to be or not, Barack Obama is a wartime commander-in-chief.  The war in Afghanistan, and even the “Long War” aren’t epic conflicts on a World War II-scale, but they’re damned serious fights involving vital American strategic interests.  Maybe we armchair students of American supreme command see things too much through the Roosevelt-and-Eisenhower, Lincoln-and-Grant lenses, but these are still critical moments.  They seem even moreso thanks to the president’s very public uncertainty about what course to take, and the reports that he’s had so little communication with Gen. McChrystal since he was dispatched to Kabul.

The president’s decision to involve himself so publicly in the Chicago Olympic bid is almost equally perplexing.  Pundits concluded that he wouldn’t have done so unless he’d been assured of success–but Chicago didn’t make it out of the first round.  This is not just bad staff work, but recklessness of a high order ... [Is it just me?  comt]

I'm telling you, for our beloved President, Barack Hussein Obama to lose the Olympics like that, ..... why it's, it's.......well at best it's racism, and at worst it's a hate crime. Those people should be ashamed...ASHAMED I tell you!...And poor Chicago whose gangs have approved a truce stating "no more killing uppity Negro students in the streets, who are just acting white by getting good grades,...you know...til after the olympic thang bees over".Well so much for THAT swell idea. Hmmmm. Wonder if Detroit would have been the better candidate?

Though I despise her absent ethics, her deplorable behavior, and her chameleon-like political appearance, I must grudgingly admit that The Hildebeast was spot on with that 3 a.m. fone call remark.

Be nice f the Hilderbeast "Vince Foster'ed" Obama. Then again she'd have to do Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and Robert Byrd to get what she wants.

Perhaps the iWon™ will now become desperate for a win, somewhere somehow, and actually support the frikkin' war.
Hint: tell him it'll really piss-off those who rejected him at the Olympics.

Obama had no right to stake American prestige on something better left to a mayor. What an amateur.

I can just imagine George Bush seeing all this on TV today and laughing his ass off.

"...she'd have to do Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and Robert Byrd..."

And the downside to that is?? (Other than "President Hillary", that is.)

At least we got rid of him for a short while

Aww, Rickn8or, I parsed your dowdified quote way wrong, and wondered who the she would be in "she'd have to do Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and Robert Byrd..."

And then, voila, it occurs that it doesn't matter what the meaning of "do" is. Her Filthyness would.

Haha. Many European leaders are showing the first spring shoots of conservatism. Merkel, Sarkozi, Berlusconi, these guys rode in on George Bush's coattails. I've heard that the Danes are considering giving up on public health care. And there have been quotes coming out of Europe to the effect that, "It's not America. It's the Zero." Attracting Obama to Denmark and then giving him the rejection slip seems like such a joke. Sheesh, I even celebrated with a couple of caipirinhas.

How could Captain Zero's Danish adventure have turned out better?

--Everybody gets to see what an incompetent boob he is, not just Americans (we already know), but all the rest of the world.

--Brazilian taxpayers end up footing the bill, not us.

--Plus the Captain was not in the U.S. so couldn't mess things up for a couple of days.

A win for the good guys.

Truer words were never spoken Kim.
New hymnns would be written to His Lordship, and every victory would have been due to the Illustrious One's glorious leadership and guidance, and every failure due to racism, resistance from the Right, and of course......George Bush.

From the Chicago Sun-Times:

President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for years, they said.

See, wha'd I tell ya?
