Henry Waxman is a Pig. One of about 300.

Animal Farm, the Movie
Animal Farm

Is Animal Farm still required reading in school, or even discussed?  I suspect it would make a good many of today's educators feel uneasy.  George Orwell was of course a socialist; prolly what we would today call a moderate Republican however. He saw Stalin and Communism for what they were, as his allegorical novel clearly shows. It's been years since I read it (high school English assignment), and never did see a film treatment until just now. This is first rate, running 71 minutes. I not only recommend it for kids age 4-80,  I suggest they view it without unsolicited comment from parents. It's message is very clear, and will last a lifetime. Henry Waxman is a pig.

Orwell was a leftist. I read that AF was his view that even under the most perfect political system (socialism) human nature would wreck it all. Capitalism will be a horror show and socialism will be a horror show. He just could not see how much more autonomy people have under capitalism and how their desires and needs are better met. As Ayn Rand said: those who see no difference between the carrot and the stick should have the difference taken out on their back,

We all watched this growing up in Chino Valley AZ. Mr. Kelly, the school Principle, and Korean War Vet, made sure we understood what it was about.
Teachers all had paddles on their desks too & and boy's hair would not touch their collar even in 1976-77.
GOOD OLE DAYS.

Mr. Orwell was a leftist in his youth, as were some of us. But with age comes wisdom,or so we hope.
And as he ages Mr. Orwell became anything but socialist which is saying something for a "brit"

But don't take my word for it just google him or ask yourself... was 1984 a society he wished for, or was it a warning for those whom life has yet hit between the eyes?
