I remember when you could buy (twenty years ago?) a good American can opener,and it would work perfectly for years and years and a day,and NOW we make none..... ~sigh~

MP School Ft McClellan, Alabamastan, 1981; Marines & Army MPs trained together at that time. We were bemused by the Jarheads calling their P-38s "John Waynes." Yep, THEY needed a training film on how to open a can...

The chicks of the Black Beaked Snipper looks a lot like the North American Sidecutter when they are nestlings, but their beaks change to the more familiar shape by the time they are ready for flight.
This species can do great harm to power, phone and cable lines.
