Ernest Hemingway is, by far, my favorite author.
He was a veritable man's man, who would happily settle matters with his fists when insulted.
His mentor was Teddy Roosevelt, although I believe EH was fascinated with Teddy's outdoorsmanship and not his politics.
He grew up in Chicago, but spending a lot of his summers fishing and hunting in Michigan.
He then became understandibly smitten with Key West and the Carribean, but he never lost interest in fishing in mountain streams.
I wish that he was still living when I became old enough to appreciate his talent and vast literary contributions. -

oy vey ole', that's just cruel. Although I know she helped herself look odd with plastic surgery, we all get old and don't look beautiful anymore.

I only saw her in "Grand Prix" and "What's New Pussycat." You have a point, but I'd apply that to the '60s.
No, I gotta go with A.Hepburn or L.Bacall, who not only were magnificent in their youth, they never became un-pretty as they aged. Can't say that about many Hollywoodiemakers. -
