Founding Father stuff

The Faith of the Founders,
How Christian Were They?

Vantage Points

Boned Jello

Not that this will be the end of it, but there is this phrase, midway through, that should reassure the hesitant ....

The truth lies between these two positions

This issue is an issue because it's a flash-point in the culture war.  Religion is incompatible with the statist religion, which automatically draws political ratbastardcommies into the fray.  To be sure, others are drawn in, but for much the same reason one might  promote Big Ten basketball, when it's obvious the ACC is the gold standard.  It's tribal. (See?)  Anyway, take it for what it's worth, you'll be smarter afterward.

The Soviet Union was comprised of nations that were and still are deeply Orthodox Christian. China and much of South East Asia was deeply Buddhist before Communism and are still today. Iran has an overtly theocratic Government. African nations have long been steeped in a mix of Christianity, Islam, and tribal superstition. Western Europe, aside from being buried in religious shit from AD 300 and all through the "Dark Ages" and Medieval period, was populated with Christians before, during and after the two World wars. Oh, and speaking of Europe, just where does the Divine Right of Kings shtick come from anyway? Your Southern States were god-soaked before the abolition of slavery and are still god-soaked today. Yes... That was Christian against Christian. Neither Jesus nor Mohammad lead any anti-slavery movement. Religion has been a mixed bag as far as being ~incompatible~ with State worship goes. It sure has never been much of a protection against let alone antidote to State worship. The antidote has always been reverence for individual liberty and respect for its derivative limitations on government.

"Was", "Were", "Was", "Were"...
Thanks for the warning, Tony. I agree...
I prefer "Is" too!
