That the thing. People (including some who should know better) were going overboard on this guy. His election was helpful in derailing Obama's socialistic agenda. However, make no mistake he is not a mainstream Republican. In Ohio, Iowa, Indiana, etc. he'd be considered a standard issue Democrat. He roots for our side in foreign affairs (wars and such) so he wouldn't fit in with Dems in Massachusetts, but that doesn't make him someone who could be the party standard bearer in a national election.

I don't care if he was to the left of Che Guevara, not in this case. Yanking away Kennedy's senate seat is a once in a lifetime thing. We'll be talking about it in 40 years when one of his daughters is sworn in.
