I wish Obama was in the running for that title. As it stands, I guess Carter is my pick for Best Former President too. If by "Best" they mean the one who best served the country by becoming a former president, that is.

I couldn't be happier w/ the Bayh decision! I may start drinking early today.
WBB: Jimmy Carter isn't the "best" at anything, except possibly in growing goober peas, and that is iffy. He certainly was not a "good" president by anyone's standard, and he damn sure is not a "good" former president. He now holds, in my not-so-humble opinion, the dubious distinction, but one well and truly deserved, of being the absolute worst president this country has had. But never fear. In January of 2013, he will be replaced by The Komrade Incompetent as the "worst president ever."
Need a rollover for the rollover...
Yah. Millard Fillmore might not have done much to prevent the civil war, but at least he didn't shop us around to Britain, France, Prussia, and our other enemies. Carter is a much worse former president than President.
I suppose you can't impeach a former president. But you can sure as hell hold him up to ridicule and ruin his historical record. Worst President? Nah. That would be Franklin Pierce. Worst former President? Yep, Carter. No one else comes close.
Just because it's politically inexpedient to charge him with treason, doesn't mean he's not guilty.
