Intolerable Gummint

Fighting Budget Deficits With Traffic Fines
Let's start over.  Dibs on rewriting the Commerce Clause.
Boned Jello

Shomari Jennings was willing to pay the $70 ticket he received for driving without a seatbelt, but not the slew of tacked-on fees and penalties that ballooned the cost more than tenfold. Every $10 of his base fine triggered a $26 "penalty assessment" for courthouse construction, a DNA identification program, emergency medical services and other programs...

In Los Angeles, city officials are thinking about doubling red-light cameras to 64 intersections. Last year, 44,000 red-light camera tickets were issued in the city, netting more than $6 million...

The fine for running a red light is nearly $500 when city and county fees combined with various penalty assessments, which are set by the Legislature, and traffic school are factored in. The majority of the red-light camera citations, however, were for making right turns without a full stop, a $381 violation.

It's hard to keep track of all the bullshit public policy going on in this article.
Does anyone have pictures of destroyed traffic cams they'd like to share?

The Brits have ways of dealing with speed cams....

INAL, but my understanding is the dodge around the camera generated ticket is to simply not answer it. Your answer is required in order for the traffic nazis to claim that they have perfected service, a requirement for any further legal action.

They also have to have an officer who witnessed the infraction, in most jurisdictions.

Office worker at a traffic camera owning company does not equal officer.

Get a letter form said folks? Toss it. It ain't real until a cop hands you a ticket ... and that cop needs to be a witness to the infraction.

Or a witness to youre confession ... which is what the traffic camera companies are hoping for.

This is what Bill Ruger designed the 10/22 for. Well, not really-but it does a good job.

I don't have a picture of destroyed red light camera, but I did read in an article in a car magazine that when speeding cams were installed in AZ as a test, they were put on tripods beside the road.

One morning they discovered one of the cams destroyed. They unloaded the film and the last picture it took was of a 15 year old primer gray F-150 with the license taped out carrying two guys with ski masks. The passenger was leaning out the window with a 12 gauge leveled at the camera. Oh yeah, they were doing 82 in a 55.

No front plates required in AZ

Seconded on the no front plates in AZ thing. They don't even issue them. My Silverado proves that. :-p

I prefer the plate covers

Also, My experience is that if you get the ticket and don't respond they send you to collections with an additional fee.

So what?

Collections agencies are simply paid unofficial harassers.

Don't carry debt and they can't screw with you. Credit rating = slave rating.
