In Passing

In Passing
You Get It All!

1) Voters challenge feds on Voting Rights Act
Remember Kinston, N.C?  Where voters decided overwhelmingly in a 2008 referendum to eliminate partisan elections, but Eric Holder  stopped the change because without party identification people might not vote Democrat?

2)  Karzai rhetoric threatens U.S. offensive
Remember "He's so stupid he'd f__k-up a wet dream?"  Democrats began in 2001 by warning that Afghanistan would be another Vietnam.  Obama nincompoopery may yet seal that deal.  If Zero continues to read from his JFK playbook, watch for Karzai's Déjà vu assassination, and Joe Biden made commanding general.

3) Poll: Low Favorability Ratings for Sarah Palin
OMFG!  CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit:

4) Mother of man accused of threatening Pelosi blames Fox News
OMFG! Media Matters always has the real story.  They'll prolly win the  Pulitzer for in-depth coverage of the plot to kill Rep. Eric Cantor.

5) Democrats fear loss in Hawaii,

6) Why people hate lawyers: an overview

7) This just in @ 7:20PM:  "Passenger attempts to light explosive on DC-Denver flight"
It just doesn't get any better, does it? Oh wait.... it does!

8) GOP congressman fails tea partier’s pop quiz on the Constitution
Ruh-Roh - tea party “Contract from America”demands  that each new bill cite the section of the Constitution that empowers Congress to act.

9) How Liberals Do Their Lying
... a snarky little hit piece that spread to all kinds of liberal blogs asserting why it is that left-wingers should maintain their iron-fisted control over how our public school systems educate the next generation about history.

10) Best Looterman Evah!

11) State Department on Hugo Chavez's Arms Build-Up: "We Don't Care"
Obama's BFF Hugo Chavez recently completed an arms deal with Russia worth somewhere between $5 Billion and $9 Billion... a lot of money for a place that can't even keep the lights on.

12) Washington Post Assaults Bob McDonnell With Seven Hit Pieces In One Day

Interesting note about the Palin poll by CBS. Of the 858 respondents, 240 were listed as Republican, weighted at 240; 271 were Democrats, weighted at 294; 347 were classed as Independents, weighted at 324. So this poll shows that Republicans were outnumbered by Democrats and Independents about 3 to 1. No wonder she showed so poorly in the poll.

Why wouldn't people hate lawyers?

Their ubiquitous billboards, television advertisements, and yellow pages listings (fat lawyer with funny goatee who wears a $2,000 suit and thinks he is attractive) are enough to make most people nauseous.

Couple that with the fact that a substantial percentage of them will sue anyone anytime for any or no reason and you get someone who is a moral leper.

I have practiced law for many years, and I wish that 30 - 40% of my profession would quit and find an honest living.

May there be a pox and Biblical plague on all of their households.

They are bottom-feeders.

Their degenerate clients view their contrived "cases" and "causes of action" on par with the Lotto tickets they buy in hopes of becoming rich while not working.

I am tired of trying to convince people I meet that I am not a purveyor of human misery (i.e. a trial lawyer) and that I help people accomplish their business and estate planning objectives.

I have a lot of respect for some trial lawyers, but they are vastly outnumbered by schemers and scammers who try to envision a cause of action in everything.

Oh no, molonlabe28; people cannot have a negative view of lawyers for the reasons you've given. Those people are merely rubes who are incapable of comprehending the awesome awesomeness emanating from lawyers due to their unwavering adherence to logic and dispassion. Yeah, that's it.

Jeeze, I couldn't make it completely through that load of elitist and self-indulgent crap.

I did enjoy the "How Liberals Do Their Lying" entry, though. I would add that the "deception via implication" method is another common leftist tactic.

I don't know about the rest of you but I've always been a fan of all ten amendments of the U.S. Bill of Rights. Let's take a look at number seven . . .

"In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law."

Would you look at that -- "the right of trial by jury shall be preserved".

Herr Blucher -

Everything I posted was on the money.

If you believe that expressing disgust with third rate trial lawyers, or with the riff-raff that many of them frequently represent, to be elitist and self-indulgent, be my guest.

The next time you need legal work, just call one of the attorneys you see on those billboards.

Or maybe you will be sued by one of them.

molonlabe28,

Woah! I was in complete agreement with your statement.

I was actually snarking about the content of the linked "Why people hate lawyers" essay. The author lays blame regarding the prevailing existence of negative attitudes towards lawyers upon everyone EXCEPT lawyers. It truly does reek of elitism.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. I guess I've been hanging around Ace of Space HQ for too long...
