When
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told "Meet the Press" host
David Gregory on Sunday that "there is no doubt there are enough seats
in play that could cause Republicans to gain control", he was, to many
people, stating the obvious.
After all, political prognosticators -- from Charlie Cook to Stu
Rothenberg and every talking head in between -- have noted (with
varying degrees of certainty) that the House majority is clearly at
risk for Democrats this fall. ...
That's not to say, however, that Gibbs' words don't have an impact on things. They do. And here's a look at where (and how):
* Messaging: House Democrats were riding high from a messaging
perspective over the last month thanks to impolitic comments by Reps.
Joe Barton (apologized to BP) and John Boehner (the "ant" imbroglio) as
well as Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele
(Afghanistan as a war of President Barack Obama's "choosing").

Since the Democrat Media Complex view this unfolding drama as a Greek tragedy, cue the deus ex machina (played by Dan Aykroyd).
"Chris (representing the DMC ), you ignorant phuck!"
That creaking noise is my larded ass now being lowered over this stage:
For two years voters have watched Democrats employ thugs to
protect them from their own angry constituents, or refuse to meet with
them altogether. Watched them create a debt load that's
scant $billions away from exceeding our entire GNP! They've
watched Democrats seize national health care, in the dead of night,
over strenuous objections. They've lost their jobs even as the
IRS trebles its assault against them. They've
witnessed rank racism from the Administration in thought, word, and
deed. Nearly half of them question Obama's U.S.
citizenship. They are scared to death, and mad as hell!
That's real stuff. Stuff that affects them personally. And "Democrats were riding high from a messaging
perspective?"
Over esoteric "missteps" by mysterious people? And what?
Democrats were oblivious to their plight before Gibbs shot his
bolt?
What Aykroyd said.
