Blame your union

Don't get me wrong; I appreciate
the hell out what y'all did, but ...

In January, a 53-year-old policeman retired with an annual benefit of $90,312 for life, plus $256,000 in a lump sum payment. Another policeman, 57, got almost $74,000 annually, plus $313,000 in a lump sum. A 54-year-old firefighter got an annual pension of $90,130, plus $178,000 in cash...

Did you see many strikes over the past twenty years? Not many. Not that police can strike against the public safety, but they have other methods-- "blue flu" and all that.

Anyways, times were good, and unions got generous contracts. Now times are tough, and the same kinds of generous contracts that bankrupted GM are affecting governments.

I heard of a Broward County Sheriff officer that walked away with a lump sum of $700,000! Outrageous, but he does hate Obama.

Fine by me if the money was already in the bank but if the contracts were written to force future contributors to pay it out, that is criminal. Then again, that's unions.

The 'carrying fees' I'm sure feathered the nests of the bosses at the time, leaving even less in the coffers when the bills came due. Like our government.

on top of a pension that pays close to 100 percent of pre-retirement income ergo, they're making more than $100 thou a year + bennies.
HFS! No wonder the USA doesn't graduate enough engineers and scientists. Cops and fireman have 50% better income at 2/3 the hours and none of the college costs.

Speaking of which, I've recently decided on going into Criminal Justice, lol... None of the jobs I've looked into have this kind of stuff but...As someone who would be on the receiving end of that money...ahem.

I was just wondering where you were Josh. Good on you. State Police? Metro Police? Mall cop? MP? Prison guard?

This is the very reason why every major state and city in America is bankrupt. Public employees have coerced the politicians into bleeding the citizenry dry.
